WE HEARD YOU AND IT’S HERE! THE NEW
MEMBERSHIP OPTION ROLLS OUT!
Over the past few
years the VSNA has listened to and recognized some of the obstacles to joining the
VSNA. One of the obstacles was the cost of membership. During the business
meeting at the 2005 VSNA
convention in Montpelier, a new membership option was voted in—In-State
Only Membership. This program is a three year pilot that is being
introduced during Nurses’ Week 2006.
Now Vermont
nurses can connect in more ways, and with more options than ever before.
This pilot program gives Vermont nurses the option to join on a state
level, at a lower dues rate, and enjoy all the benefits of connecting
locally and participating in Your Vermont Nursing Community. We all
occasionally feel the economic pressures to stretch the dollar as far as
it will go, and many times membership dues have a hard time moving up on
the priority scale. We've made it easier for you. Through this option,
nurses who are presently NOT VSNA/ANA members and who live or work
in VT can register for membership at the low price of $99.00.
Other CMAs or states have done this following the contract guideline
with ANA and have had some success.
This pilot
membership option is a direct response to Vermont nurses identifying
obstacles to membership. It is hoped that with this new option our
membership will increase and will reveal to more Vermont nurses how
important our professional association is. We look forward to a larger
and louder number of voices in the VSNA. Join and be heard!

This more
affordable membership option is not a special short time promotion; this
is the regular rate for the In-State Only Membership option!

State only
members are entitled to all benefits and privileges that flow from the
state organization except that state only members are not eligible to
run for President or ANA Delegate.

Benefits
provided by ANA such as the AJN or the American Nurse, are not included
in this membership category.
Dual-Membership is Still an Option!
Please remember
that our standard dual VSNA and ANA Membership is still the richest
membership benefit package offered. Members who prefer to opt for full,
dual-membership will enjoy the full panoply of ANA benefits as well as
the benefits of connecting locally with a professional nurses
association.
